Freelance Content Writer — Animal Health (US & Canada)
Freelance · Remote · US & Canada
About the project
Keenfolks is a global digital marketing agency building a high-output Content Factory for a confidential client — a global leader in animal health. The engine produces large volumes of creative, channel-ready content across multiple brands, species and audiences, starting with Latin America, the United States and Canada. We are assembling a bench of senior freelance content writers who can bring together two things that rarely live in the same person: real creative craft and a working understanding of the animal health and pharma world.
This is a hands-on writing role. You will produce and adapt a lot of content, fast, to a high standard, inside a structured pharma review workflow — supported by strategists, designers and AI-assisted production tools.
What you’ll do
Write high volumes of content across the full channel mix: social posts and carousels, marketing and approved emails, banners and paid ads, landing pages and web copy, brochures and leaflets, sales aids and e-detailing (CLM/IVA) presentations, video and reel scripts, newsletters.
Flex between audiences — veterinarians and clinic teams, livestock producers, and pet owners — moving from science-backed clinical copy to warm, emotional storytelling without losing accuracy.
Turn briefs, master assets and scientific source material into sharp, channel-native copy; transcreate and localize global masters for regional markets.
Write claims-safe, referenced copy and work through structured medical/legal/regulatory (MLR) revision rounds, delivering submission-ready files for a Veeva PromoMats environment.
Keep brand voice, terminology and glossaries consistent across dozens of assets per month, meeting agreed SLAs without sacrificing craft.
Collaborate async with a distributed team; give and take structured feedback quickly.
What you’ll bring
4+ years writing content and copy for brands, including proven experience with pharma or regulated health — animal health ideally; human pharma also welcome.
A real understanding of the animal world: pets and/or livestock. You are comfortable writing about parasiticides, vaccines, nutrition, preventive care and herd health — and translating science into content people actually want to read.
A portfolio that shows multichannel range: social, email, long-form, scripts.
Proven capacity for volume: multiple assets per week, versioning discipline, structured feedback loops.
Familiarity with claims substantiation and MLR review; Veeva PromoMats experience is a strong plus.
Native-level English (US/Canadian conventions and cultural fluency). Spanish or Canadian French is a plus.
A reliable, self-managed freelance setup: responsive, deadline-driven and comfortable working async across time zones.
Nice to have
Background in veterinary science, animal science or biology — or long experience writing alongside vets and technical experts.
Fluency with AI-assisted writing workflows (prompting, editing AI drafts to brand standard).
SEO fundamentals and experience with transcreation/localization at scale.
